Blu's mother, CC Cat, was my first show horse.  I bred her to Once in a Blu Boon for her first foal, and Nothing But Blu made his arrival shortly before midnight on 4/16/2019.

Blu was special from the very beginning. Everyone that saw him immediately commented that there was just “something about Blu".

​

When it was time to start Blu, some good friends mentioned that Fernando Salgado had a great colt starter – Matheus Victor. Fernando agreed to let Matheus start Blu after his work day was finished. Matheus put a lot of riding miles on Blu over those first several weeks, but nothing to do with any sport. I just wanted a broke horse. The day I came to get Blu, Fernando rode him for me. He told me he thought Blu could be a reiner. But I decided to honor his pedigree and see if he liked cows.

I learned of Canadian trainer, Cayley Wilson, through a friend. When I first called Cayley, he answered the phone while he was out gathering cattle in the mountains in Canada! Blu went to Cayley's August of his 2 year old year. Up to that time, he had never seen a cow or a flag. It didn't take long for us to realize his aptitude and to learn how special he was. 

 

Blu went to his first pre-futurity with less than a year of training, and he was outstanding! Cayley had told me that he was very confident Blu would be in the top 5 at the Snaffle Bit Futurity, and he didn't disappoint. It has just kept getting better since then! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Cayley and Blu.

Nothing But Blu's first babies will hit the ground Feb 2024!  And I'm proud to say, Cayley Wilson was the first to breed a mare to Blu!
